Doctor Appointment

I had a doctor appointment today. Dr. Johannsen was out this week so I saw a Dr. Callahan. She was nice. Everything is still going smoothly. The baby's heartbeat sounded good and the uterus is still measuring 30 cm which is fine too. The baby has moved since last week's ultrasound. She's now head down but not settled into the pelvic bone which is good at this point. She said we don't worry about the baby's position until 36 weeks.

I asked her about my blood pressure and when it started to go up with Belle. She looked back in my chart and found it was around 34/35 weeks when my blood pressure went up. That's good to know. Right now my blood pressure is doing just great. Hope it will keep up. She said that there is no real definite reason for why preeclapsia sometimes happens. They think it has to do with the placenta and well ya get a new one every pregnancy. :) So hopefully if that is the cause of it this placenta is nicer then the last.

She also confirmed that the glucose test they did last time came back negative so that's great.

I go back to the doctor on the 11th.

Weekly Update - 28 Weeks

How your baby's growing: By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

How am I feeling: Well this is the start of the third trimester. That in itself is enough to freak me out! I knew this would go fast but it just seems like I blinked and now I'm in the final trimester! I'm starting to feel the urge to get things in order. I did up all the baby clothing laundry and am getting that put away and clearing out space in our room for the changing table and bassinet. Also am starting to get the hospital bags ready. I know it is still early but every woman I know who has put it off ended up having to send their husband home to try and guess what she'll need and throw it in a bag. I'd rather just not have to worry about that. :) Plus I want Belle to have stuff in her bag to make her feel more a part of the entire process.

Anyway, other then that I'm feeling fine. Just huge. Oh! I got the results back from the glucose test and they were normal! Yay! ... and thank god!

Ultrasound

Today was the ultrasound. Moya wasn't very cooperative but we still got some great pictures. The technician was really patient and great and did all she could to get all the measurements for the test and get us some pictures. She even broke out the 3D ultrasound equipment as you can see!! We weren't expecting that.
It was so amazing. We got to see her move in 3D. AND... We saw her smile!! Even the technician saw it so it wasn't just us silly parents.
She looked so cute and had the biggest ole cheeks! She looks like Belle did as a baby. Very strange to get to see her so clearly before she is born.
As for the test results. She's doing just fine. She weighs about 2 pounds 4 ounces right now and is in the 71 percentile. Right on target apparently. The reason I'm measuring big they said is because I've got a lot of amniotic fluid in there. They said that is fine too and that fluid will often increase right before the baby does a big growth spurt. She also said that since I have a history of having a bigger baby that I probably will with this one too. They said they expect my doctor to be sending me back for another ultrasound as I get closer to my due date. :) Fine by me!
We also asked her to double check the gender but of course Moya was keeping her legs together but the technician did say that from what she could see she didn't see any signs of um... boy parts. :) That she still looked like a girl to her and that if we got a 'girl' report last time then we're probably having just that, that they don't give people a verdict one way or the other unless they are really sure.
Anyway, so wonderful to get to see her again. And at least we know one thing about her already... she's gonna be beautiful, just like her big sister. :)

Baby Shower

We had the baby shower today. I originally didn't care to have one but Belle made it clear I most definitely would be having a shower. :) And with Brad and my mom backing her up I was outnumbered.

And it was fun. Not a huge party just a few friends. I wish some of the family could have been there but with the trip to Disneyland having just happened and the holidays and Noah's birthday coming up... the timing just sucked. I mean it would have come down to them coming for this or coming when after Moya is born, and frankly that's a no brainer!.

Anyway, my mom made the food which was good. I found with the help of Melissa a bunch of good recipes. A Lavosh dish which was sooooo yummy, some stuffed mushrooms, some brochette, and then some veggies and fruit and dip along with some store bought cheesy things for the kids that were there.

The cake was a last minute order from QFC. I had this grand idea for a cake I was going to make but I had to do it under a time crunch. Well that didn't work out and I ended up totally destroying my creation. Sooo... I ordered one. :)

The decor I wanted more of a fall theme then an overly baby theme, so we went with brown, green, and pink (had to have one baby color in there). It all ended up looking very lovely.

The guest where; Doug and his daughter Elle, Scott and Bri, Carol and her daughter Nora, Tanya, Dalia and Nadeen (Nadeen goes to school with Belle), and then of course my mom, Brad, Belle and I.

We had fun and played some silly games and visited. I got some nice gifts from everyone. Bri and Scott hung out for awhile after the party which was nice since they'd been out of town and we'd not gotten to see them in a long while. Bri is pregnant too, due about a month after me. So we compared pregnancy notes.

All in all it was a lot of fun and I am glad I had a shower after all. Belle seemed to really enjoy it too. :)

Weekly Update - 27 Weeks

How your baby's growing: This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

How am I feeling: Fine... big. :) Lot of presure on the pelvic bone and staying comfortable at night is getting more difficult. But otherwise pretty good!

Doctor Appointment

I had a doctor appointment today. Routine for the most part. But I had to do my glucose test this time which made me qweezy. The drink tasted okay (fruit punch flavor) but it was soooo sugary and I had to drink it all within 5 minutes so it just sat there like a rock in my stomach. Gross.

I also got a flu shot and my rhogram shot. One in the arm and one in the butt. When I told Belle later about it she found it hilarious that I got one in the butt. :)

Everything seems to be fine except that Doc said I'm bigger then the normal for 26 weeks. The uterus measured 30 cm. So she wants to do an ultrasound to make sure all is good and to see just how big this baby is gonna be. We did this with Belle too, only just later on in the pregnancy. When she first told me how big I was I thought she said 37 cm. She laughed and said "no, 30... it you were 37 cm you'd be getting an ultrasound today instead of next week."

So we're getting another ultrasound on Thursday! Yay! I love getting to see my baby.

Weekly Update - 26 Weeks

How your baby's growing: The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.

How am I feeling: Not bad but I've had a tummy bug this week. And heartburn. I don't know if it is related to the tummy sickness or just that time of the pregnancy but ugh! Luckily Tums is allowed and takes the edge off.
The belly feels tight but fine. Moya moves soooo much. :)

Weekly Update - 25 Weeks

How your baby's growing: Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

How I'm Feeling: Pretty good, but pretty big too.
