Moya's First Derby Day

For several years now we've taken Belle to the Parade here in Redmond. She loves it and always dresses up in some fun character for the kids bike parade. It's great fu. This was the first year Moya was with us (well... outside the belly anyway). This year's theme was Aladdin. The play was for Belle to be Aladdin, I was Jasmine, Daddy was Genie, Gaga was Jafar, and Moya would be the monkey Abu. I guess Moya didn't want to be the monkey because as soon as we got there she fell right asleep in the stroller! I had not put her in the costume yet because I didn't want it to get spewed on. There was no way for me to change her without waking her. So Abu didn't make the parade. Belle didn't mind.


Moya however was an amazingly good girl the entire time. It was hot, crowded, and busy and loud but she was just a doll. Didn't cry or get grumpy the entire day! She slept durring the parade, watched happily at Belle do her Aikido demo, and smiled and laughed and watched as we walked around the fair. She must have known how important this was for Belle. :)

Smackers

Moya has started doing this funny little thing with her tongue and upper lip. She sticks out her tongue, sucks in her upper lip and then makes this smacking sound. Belle did something similar too as a baby. It is ever so cute! Luckily I managed to record it.

She just will happily smack smack smack away! You can't tell on the video but it can be very loud sometimes too. She was doing it the other day while up stairs to Daddy while I was downstairs in Gaga's room and I could hear her!

I Found The Meaning of Life

I was up and ready for work and both Moya and Belle woke at the same time. So I picked Moya up and we crawled in bed with Belle. I expected one or both of them to grump about the situation but no they did just the opposite! They both loved being all warm and snugly together. Moya kept trying to pet and kiss Belle. And to say "kiss" is a loose description of what it is. :) It's kind of a kiss/lick/try and eat your face sort of a deal but it is definitely her attempt at doing what we do when we kiss her. It's a show of love.














At one point she was trying so hard to get Belle she pulled her hair, pinched her face and even got a hold of her nose! It was so cute and Belle didn't complain at all, and in fact seemed to love the attention and love from her sister.

And I got some of the love too. Moya turned to me trying to kiss me and grabbed the underside of my chin and pulled me too her.

Luckily Gaga saw the cuddle fest and grabbed the camera. Good thing it's a calorie free kind of sweetness, otherwise I'd have gained 50 pounds right there!

I just love my girls. I can't imagine life without them. They're both perfect and happy and so much fun to be with. My favorite people.

6 Month Check Up

18 pounds 26 1/4 inchs long! My big ole fatty. :) No she's exactly how she should be. Perfectly healthy. Doctor said she's doing great. She was more awake for this appointment and playing and rolling around for the doctor. Which only made it even more difficult to see her get shots. She was so happy and then bam! :( But she recovered quickly.

Moya the Boozer

My baby is a boozer already! :) Okay not really but this was super cute.

First the back story... I drink non-alcoholic beer while I'm nursing. It apparently increases milk supply. It was recommended to me by a lactation nurse when I was nursing Belle and as much as I hate to admit it the stuff works. I loath the taste but I suffer through it for my kids. :)

So the other night I was drinking my glass of dread while holding Moya and she starts flapping her arms and reaching for it, mouth open! I put it near her and she starts going for it like she wants it!! She didn't really... what she wanted was a bottle. She was hungry and has figured out that while I don't use a bottle, that the glass of liquid equals food the same as her's... even if it is a different color.

For giggles I had Gaga film her going for my beer again before I stopped torturing my baby and gave her her bottle. And it turns out it isn't just the beer she'll do that too. If she's hungry and you take a drink of anything... she'll go for it. Super super cute!

First Time Eating Solid Food

So I asked Moya's doctor when we should/could start trying out solids for Moya. Typical age is 6 months but Moya is a big girl and we were so close I thought I'd ask. Doc gave us the go ahead so we broke out the baby oatmeal.

I think Moya's first reaction was "What the heck is this?!"

But she seemed to get a kick out of it after a few attempts. The problem seems to be that silly ole tongue of hers. My daughters seems to love to poke that tongue out. Moya and Belle both had tongue thrust problems with the boob and bottle, and Moya seems to be taking it a step further with solid foods. She just sticks that tongue out along with the cereal.

But she did pretty good really. We only gave her about 1 tablespoon, and she ate it all... even though each bite took about 4 tries. :)
