Moya the Boozer

My baby is a boozer already! :) Okay not really but this was super cute.

First the back story... I drink non-alcoholic beer while I'm nursing. It apparently increases milk supply. It was recommended to me by a lactation nurse when I was nursing Belle and as much as I hate to admit it the stuff works. I loath the taste but I suffer through it for my kids. :)

So the other night I was drinking my glass of dread while holding Moya and she starts flapping her arms and reaching for it, mouth open! I put it near her and she starts going for it like she wants it!! She didn't really... what she wanted was a bottle. She was hungry and has figured out that while I don't use a bottle, that the glass of liquid equals food the same as her's... even if it is a different color.

For giggles I had Gaga film her going for my beer again before I stopped torturing my baby and gave her her bottle. And it turns out it isn't just the beer she'll do that too. If she's hungry and you take a drink of anything... she'll go for it. Super super cute!

First Time Eating Solid Food

So I asked Moya's doctor when we should/could start trying out solids for Moya. Typical age is 6 months but Moya is a big girl and we were so close I thought I'd ask. Doc gave us the go ahead so we broke out the baby oatmeal.

I think Moya's first reaction was "What the heck is this?!"

But she seemed to get a kick out of it after a few attempts. The problem seems to be that silly ole tongue of hers. My daughters seems to love to poke that tongue out. Moya and Belle both had tongue thrust problems with the boob and bottle, and Moya seems to be taking it a step further with solid foods. She just sticks that tongue out along with the cereal.

But she did pretty good really. We only gave her about 1 tablespoon, and she ate it all... even though each bite took about 4 tries. :)

My Picture Perfect Baby

We had some family photos taken. My girls are so beautiful. :) When we got there Moya was awake, but we had to wait so long she fell asleep right before the shoot. Luckily she's such a good tempered gal that she still took great photos and didn't cry even after being woken up.

The only problem we had with her was her drooling! :) Thankfully mommy is savy in Photoshop and could remove the drool stains from her dress.

The entire photoshoot itself was a pain in the butt... took 3 hours. Most of which was us waiting around and the employees being stupid. But we still came out of it with some wonderful pictures.

Bumbo

Moya has a problem. She wants to sit up and play but can't yet. She can hold her head fine and has awesome tummy muscles. In other words, the strength is there, it is just the balance that she's not mastered yet. So we got her a Bumbo. She has a sitting support thing already that use to be Belle's but it is for babies who can sit just still fall a bit. But the Bumbo is contoured to hold her up. It also has a tray she can put toys on to play with.

I was hesitant to buy it at first because I figured it would get a few months use and then what would we do with it. But after seeing her face when I put her in it the first time... well I have no regrets. She absolutely LOVES it.

We sat her in it and she was quiet and looked around as if she were just seeing the room for the first time. She then just started flappin her arms and smiling! Instantly it was obvious how much she loved her new position. She played for several minutes in it until blessing it by pooping. :) ... different chair you do that in kid, I'll show you in a year or so.

Anyway, she was very happy to have it. If she only uses it for a few months then fine, it was still worth the money... I mean can ya really put a price on that smile? Didn't think so.

Rough Day?

"Rough day... leave me alone I have a headache." :) (not really... she actually was just sleeping like that with her hand on her face.)

My Girls Playing

Belle likes to entertain Moya and why wouldn't she? Moya is the perfect audience. She smiles and laughs at everything Belle does and give her undivided attention. And Belle can get the best smiles out of Moya.

Today Moya was sitting on her bumbo and Belle was playing with her toy animals and Moya took interest so Belle did a little show with her. Moya didn't try to grab them, was perfectly happy to just watch Belle swing them around. Sooo cute.

5 Months Old

5 Months old today! Yay!

She has changed SOO much since we brought her home. I love seeing her little personality coming through.
Moya loves to smile and laugh and it is very easy to get her to do so. All you have to do is smile at her or talk to her, kiss her on the cheek and she'll give you a big grin.

This month also brought her two teeth and the ability to roll over. She wants to sit really bad too and will try and lift her self forward with her tummy muscles. Balance and that big ole head are her trouble points still.

She also wants to eat big kid food. Eating in front of her has gotten to be very uncomfortable. She'll watch you and smack her lips and even reach for what you're eating. You can't help but feel bad. Soon enough she'll be ready for it.

Speaking of food she does the cutest thing when she's hungry. If you show her the bottle before popping it in her mouth her eyes get huge, she wiggles and flaps her arms, she opens her mouth really big, and she'll even yell at you. If you put it close to her she'll grab it and push it to her mouth. A total "gimme that NOW!!!" dance.

Sleeping is still more or less the same. She power naps during the day; 10 to 20 minutes snoozes. Then she'll sleep great at night. Only change is that she can go longer at night without eating. She also doesn't pee much during the night so I hardly ever have to change her! From a night time sleep stand point she's awesome. I just wish she'd take a good nap during the day for her sake.

Her personality is becoming more and more clear. She's a sweetheart and I think is going to have a good sense of humor. :)

Second Tooth!

So yesterday Moya sprouted her first tooth, and today... BAM! Tooth number two!! I couldn't believe it! Two teeth in two days. My baby seems to be in a hurry to grow up.

Tooth 2 hasn't broke the gum just yet. It is right under the surface. So she's chewing all the time. Poor baby.

But pretty soon we'll have a little toothy grin looking up at us.

First Tooth!

I was giving Moya a bath tonight and notices something in her mouth. I rubbed my finger on her gum and sure enough... a little tooth!!! Lower front left! What a big girl!

Baby Chatter

My little chatter box. Moya loves to talk, yell, giggle, and blabber away. Sometimes she's so loud that no one else can talk because no one else can hear the other speaking! :)

But she has a fantastically cute voice. She wants to communicate with us so badly.

Airplane Rides

Moya LOVES to fly. She like to be held up over our heads and brought down to our faces. She also likes airplane rides.
The only risk with doing this is the drool and spit up factor. So far I've gotten only some drool.

Boo!

Had Moya on the changing table today and played boo with her. I'd duck down below the table and then jump out and say 'boo!' She'd jump with a start and then smile and laugh. She's a very jumpy baby, easily startled, but rarely cries about it... most the time she seems to think everything that make her jump is really funny.

First Time Rolling From Back to Tummy!

Moya has been really really close to rolling over for awhile now. But today she finally did it!

We had her on her play mat downstairs and I'm laying on the floor next to her trying to get her to do it. Finally Belle said "I'll try!" She got down and said "Moya!" and Moya rolled right over to her!!! This is probably just the beginning of Moya trying to follow her big sister around. :)

Belle was thrilled to have helped her do it. And I'm so proud of my little Moya for getting over onto that tummy. ... now she's just got to figure out how to roll back!
